This page is a private project of a group of photographers. It is a result of the realization that we collect lots of pictures, but that's kind of pointless if we're not able to find them again. The obvious choice was to put them all onto a website, feed the metadata into a database and make the whole thing searchable in a number of ways.
To date, there's no out-of-the-box solution that can do all the categorization we want. Thus, in 2007 the first version of this site was created. It had some special features for the time, like Google Maps integration (a photo map), detailed metadata and extensive search possibilities.
A little over five years later, at the end of 2012, it was time to refresh the design, and it was a good opportunity to get rid of the old PHP code, which basically was a huge mess of functions and associative arrays. Thus the current version was created, which, while it kept the concept and many ideas of the old page, was completely re-written.
Finally, in 2020, the layout was adapted to Bootstrap 4, to provide a better user experience on mobile devices.
The technical base is a common Linux/nginx/PHP/MariaDB stack.
