Im ersten Abschnitt der Reise des IC 2375 von Westerland auf Sylt bis Hamburg sind 218 380-4 und ihre Schwester 379-6 zuständig. Ab dort übernimmt eine Ellok den Weitertransport bis zum Zielbahnhof Karlsruhe. Gerade passieren die beiden Dieselmaschinen die Blockstelle in Langenhorn.
